MID CENTURY CARIBBEAN
The site
An entrance garden to a private Caribbean garden.
The brief
Transform an awkward front driveway to create a functional garden which is more sympathetic to the mid century architecture
The solution
Under a large existing Mahogany Tree, Swietenia mahogoni, a gravel garden with strategically placed boulders and planting complements the midcentury architecture of the house. This is the only area of the garden with some protection from the wind so delicate flowering plants such as Plumbago auriculata and Bougainvillea are planted to be used for cut flowers in the house. An area which was previously a gravel car park became a gravel garden with some accommodation for cars.
